A world title shot for Agbeko, but must first get past Hashimu Zuberi on April 19th

Ghana’s two-time former bantamweight world champion Joseph Agbeko ( 35-5, 26 KOs) is gradually inching closer to a world title shot with his impending fight against Tanzanian Hashimu Zuberi (15- 3, 5KOs) at the Aborigenes Beach Resort, Keta, in the Volta Region of Ghana on April 19, 2019.

Currently the number two contender in the World Boxing Organisation’s latest world rankings released in April 2019, the current WBO Africa Bantamweight champion has gradually worked his way to a world title shot in such an admirable fashion.

After his setback against Guillermo Rigondeaux in December 7th, 2013 many counted him out but the self styled ‘King Kong’ has gone on a winning spree, going undefeated in 6 back to back victories against the likes of Juanito Rubillar whom he KOed in the fourth round, Haji Juma, Martin Ahiadekey and the good old Abdul Malik Jabir.

On March 30, 2019, Joseph Agbeko decisioned Frank Kiwalabye of Uganda for the vacant World Boxing Organisation Africa Bantamweight title, and successfully defended it against  Ekow Wilson, whom he KOed in round 10.

The hardened former world champion, Agbeko who possesses a height of 5′ 5½″   /   166cm reach must overcome his nemesis on the night, in Tanzanian Hashimu Zuberi, in order to stake a claim for a final shot at the world title which he so much yearning.

But he must get past a much younger fighter, in 23 year old Bagamoyo born Tanzanian, in Hashimu Zuberi come next week Saturday at the famous Aborigenes Beach Resort in Keta.
